Devon and Cornwall take action against Livestock Worrying
Devon and Cornwall have been working with the Rural Affairs officer under the Bodmin Moor Rural Crime Initiative to highlight the issue of livestock worrying. With their resin sheep Shaun and Shirley, they are educating dog owners to be responsible around livestock. They are helping to prevent these incidents using their partnership signage, theirresin sheep and a number of other projects they have in the pipeline. Devon and Cornwall Community Watch Association are looking forward to sharing with their members the Rural Affairs team monthly rural themes. They will be starting their livestock

Describe what you did and why? I am a the lead for Tower Hamlets where we have no less than 20 SNT regions for 325,000 residents. One of our busiest and most famous areas, Canary Wharf, has recently suffered a rise of bicycle thefts. Engaging with residents of the area via a dedicated Facebook Group, I received many requests to help them get safe and secure bicycle storage. Not only do I encourage them to build more Neighbourhood Watch groups to get a better negotiation position when talking to private estate owners but I also refer them to unique schemes in the Borough, which install secure

Council
Working with Councils and Councillors to Increase Engagement
Neighbourhood Watch coordinators in Newark, Nottinghamshire made contact with the local Council and Councillors and arranged public meetings to promote the idea of community partnerships and good public engagement. The local community police officer also attends the meeting. At the meetings, the public in attendance are are invited to set up local Neighbourhood Watch schemes. Council staff help with other issues raised such as street lighting, dog fouling, etc.
