Members of North Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch Association were pleased to receive an award in January this year for their support in helping Warwickshire Police safer neighbourhood teams at many of the crime prevention events throughout the year.

The Neighbourhood Policing Award for Citizens in Policing was presented to the Neighbourhood Watch Team at Benn Hall in Rugby by the Assistant Chief Constable as part of their annual Policing week.

North Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch, was formed back in 2002 by a number of keen volunteers who wanted to help reduce crime and the fear of crime in their area.

Since then we have gone form strength to strength and arrange or attend upwards of 35 events every year supporting the Safer Neighbourhood Teams at community engagement and property marking events in the north of the County.

In addition to joint events we have a fully kitted out display trailer allowing us to set up at local carnivals, agricultural shows, village fetes and other community events to offer crime prevention advice and practical solutions to help residents look after themselves and their property.

We are often out and about at short notice when there is a concern or trend of particular crime in the area such as catalytic converter theft or burglaries to help and reassure residents regarding crime prevention.

Working closely alongside Warwickshire Police we are well known throughout the area and are pleased to see many people visiting our joint engagement displays to seek advice and help with personal and home security.
