Mosque
Tailoring Neighbourhood Watch to increase engagement with the Muslim community
In 2009 Wycombe District Neighbourhood Watch Association in Thames Valley obtained a grant of £2000 to support their increased engagement with the Muslim community in Castlefield and Oakridge in High Wycombe. Presentation meetings were held at community locations, Neighbourhood Watch signs were erected and window stickers provided. Tables were manned at Friday lunch times to coincide with prayer times at the three main mosques. A great many friends were made, crime prevention advice was given and leaflets were handed out. We had feedback that our presence outside the mosques was well received

Coffee
Coffee, cake and craft morning

West Midlands Police and Himaya Haven project
A community group with good links was approached to put on an event in order to talk to the local community about Neighbourhood Watch and answer any questions or concerns people might have about crime and ASB. This allowed our contact with the community to feel more authentic because its being led by the community. Allowing local councillors to get involved added further value as it allowed local issues to be escalated so they could be rectified like cutting back shrubs etc to make an area safer
