A group of organisations including Smart Energy GB, Neighbourhood Watch, Citizens Advice, Take Five to Stop Fraud and Crimestoppers Trust came together to host a drop-in event at the Houses of Parlliament for MPs, policy makers and staff. The aim was to raise awareness of energy scams and to share share consumer advice, fraud prevention and community safety expertise. 

Content covered the types of scams and misleading information affecting constituents, including energy and consumer issues. The aim was to provide clear signposting routes, resources and contacts that MPs and caseworkers can draw on. Consumer champion Dom Littlewood delivered remarks during the afternoon. All the experts and organisations spent time engaging with MPs and parliamentary staff.

Scammers frequently exploit the energy sector to steal personal or financial information. Common scams include fake "Ofgem" or supplier rebates, fraudulent doorstep meter upgrades, and cloned prepayment top-up keys.
