Stories in the press or online about antisocial behaviour are often illustrated by images of hoodie-wearing youths. But young people are as impacted by, and victims of, antisocial behaviour as much as any other group.
Our Youth Council developed a campaign 'ASB and us', to educate young people about what ASB is, what causes it, the relationship between ASB and mental health and the impact on young people and their communities.
Working with our Young People's Programme Manager and the wider Central Support Team, the council carried out in-depth research into antisocial behaviour. They also engaged in bystander intervention training with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to create helpful resources for social media and online platforms.
Young people and ASB
We asked some of the council members to reflect on their experiences of antisocial behaviour and what they would like to see change. Read reflections from Jacob, Alexandros, and Rebecca.
The council also blogged exploring the complex issue of mental health and ASB, delivered a social media campaign on ASB and young people, and wrote an open letter to policy makers about the changes that they would like to see.
