Neighbourhood Watch has appointed a new chair at its Annual General Meeting.

Lynn Farrar from Derbyshire took over the helm of the national charity from Jim Maddan OBE at the meeting in Leicestershire on July 13.

Lynn has been active in the movement for many years and was previously vice-chair.

“I pay tribute to the many years of excellent and dedicated service that Jim has provided as our chairman,” said Lynn. “I am delighted that Jim has agreed to continue to serve as Vice-Chair and as our acting Treasurer. We are fortunate to have a dedicated board of trustees, committed coordinators and amazing members that make our movement so special.

“We have been able to expand our team of staff with the on-going support of our primary sponsors the Co-op Insurance and ERA Home Security and I look forward to what more we can achieve together going forward.”

Lynn was voted into the post at a well-attended meeting at Leicestershire Police HQ where regional and force area and London borough Neighbourhood Watch representatives came together for the annual meeting and to hear guest speakers talk on a range of subjects.

In his outgoing speech as chair Jim paid tribute to the work of volunteers for making the movement so distinctive. He also paid tribute to the Prime Minister Theresa May for her support of Neighbourhood Watch during her time as Home Secretary.

As well as Lynn and Jim, the Neighbourhood Watch board of Trustees (pictured) comprises John Munton, Alan Johnson and new trustee and Secretary Alison McWhinnie.
