As an organisation dedicated to creating safer neighbourhoods, Neighbourhood Watch believes that education and community engagement are key to preventing knife crime.
Across the country, charities, police forces, youth professionals, parents, carers, and individuals are making a tangible difference in the lives of young people. We are supporting Knife Crime Awareness Week, which runs from 19 -25 May 2025, and provides a national platform to recognise and celebrate these efforts.
Knife crime in England and Wales has increased in recent years, over 50,500 offences were recorded in the year ending March 2024. This demonstrates a concerning trend in violent crime involving sharp instruments. But knife crime is not an inevitable part of society. We can all play a part in breaking the cycle of violence.
"By supporting Knife Crime Awareness Week, we're reinforcing our commitment to keeping our communities safe. Our nationwide network of volunteers is uniquely positioned to help spread awareness and prevent knife crime at the grassroots level."
Cheryl Spruce, Head of Membership at Neighbourhood Watch
Knife Crime Awareness Week aims to raise awareness and encourage broader engagement in the movement to end knife crime. By bringing together individuals and organisations, we hope to strengthen the collective effort required to tackle this issue.
