The Chancellor has today shared the Spending Review, including plans for investment in the country’s security, and community initiatives.
In response, John Hayward-Cripps, chief executive of Neighbourhood Watch said:
“We welcome the investment in community policing and funding Plans for Neighbourhoods. Antisocial behaviour is consistently one of the priority issues for our members. We should all feel safe in our communities but acts of vandalism can, and do, undermine that.
This is a signal that the government understands that people want to see action on issues like fly tipping and graffiti. The key now will be ensuring these improvements can be seen and felt where they are needed most.”
Policing
Police spending power will see an average 2.3% real terms increase over the Spending Review period as the Government puts police back on the beat in communities across England and Wales, supporting the government’s Plan for Change commitment to put an additional 13,000 police officers, PCSOs and special constables into neighbourhood roles.
Neighbourhoods
The Chancellor also confirmed additional funding for up to 350 communities, especially those in deprived areas, through Plans for Neighbourhoods – giving new long-term regeneration funding and supporting councils in their fightback against graffiti and fly-tipping across Britain.
