This winter Neighbourhood Watch and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity are encouraging neighbours to get together and raise vital funds for both charities by hosting a Boxing Day Big Curry. Both charities have shared values – the importance of home and community; the meaning of safety and support; and the value of connections and starting conversations — and now you can make a difference to both.

Get your pans hot, your chopping boards prepared and be ready to set a dining table with a difference. Invite your neighbours to pop over for a poppadum, try a turkey tikka with your leftovers or a Boxing Day Bhuna.

There is no minimum fundraising amount – the goal is to have fun and bring people together. With every penny raised, you will help build friendlier, inclusive and safer neighbourhoods whilst also supporting soldiers, veterans and their families. All funds raised will be split equally between Neighbourhood Watch Network and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

You can take part in three easy steps: register, host your Big Curry, and donate.

Click here to register your interest. From there you can find free recipes and games to try with your friends, family and neighbours.

If you can’t take part in the Boxing Day Big Curry, you can still combat the cold of winter this January by opening your home or local community centre with a warm welcome and the smell of cooking and join in with the Janu-Curry Get Together! Use the spices in the back of your cupboards to create cooking magic!

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity runs the year-round national campaign, the Big Curry, which encourages people to come together and share a curry in support of their cause. In September, Neighbourhood Watch and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity launched a month-long fundraising initiative called Together for Good: The Neighbourhood Watch Big Curry. Supporters of both charities held events bringing neighbours, friends and family together to share a meal while making connections and raising awareness of both charities. We received great feedback on the partnership, so we are continuing the positive spirit!

Communities are most resilient to crime when neighbours look out for each other. What better way to get to know your neighbours than by sharing a meal with them? We’re really proud to be partnering with The Soldiers’ Charity on this special project.

John Hayward-Cripps, CEO of Neighbourhood Watch Network

It is a great pleasure to be joining Neighbourhood Watch again and bringing people together to share a curry with a difference. Every bite matters when it comes to taking part in a Big Curry meal. We are delighted to be helping both the Army family and also the local communities they live in.
