The statistics include information on growth under the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee (NPG). This is the second official statistics release which reports on growth under the Neighbourhood Policing Programme (following on from reporting of the first 6 months of growth in the ‘Police workforce, as at 30 September 2025’ statistical release).
In December 2024, under the Safer Streets Mission, the government announced the NPG and a commitment to put more police personnel into neighbourhood policing roles. Funding for the additional neighbourhood policing personnel commenced on 1 April 2025 and updated police force delivery plans for the first year are available in Table 4.1 of the Neighbourhood Policing tables. Chapter 3 includes more information and reporting of growth under the programme.
