The whole Watch would like to wish Arthur Evans all the very best for his 100th birthday. Our Watch would not be what it is today without the hard work and dedication put in by Arthur and his friends for so many years. Arthur has been a much valued member of our community, always kind, caring and helpful to his neighbours. Our Watch now covers over 600 households and tries to look out for all our neighbors according to the principles established by Arthur when the Watch was formed - by being good neighbors! Thanks Arthur, and many happy returns! We would like to send our warmest birthday wishes to Mr Evans from Neighbourhood Watch in South Wales who is 100 years old today.

Mr Evans, or Arthur to his friends and neighbours, was the founder of the local Neighbourhood Watch in his community after retiring from the RAF. During his time in Neighbourhood Watch he was recognised for his work serving his community by making it safer. He was named Community Safety Volunteer of the Year by South Wales Police.

Mr Evans' neighbours and friends describe him as very caring and supportive to all everyone. He was always looking for ways to improve the community especially addressing the needs of the older and the younger generation.

It should be noted he also served in Ceylon for six years during World War 2 as a Sergeant in the RAF and was awarded the Burma Star, Africa Star, the Defence medal and War Medal.

South Wales Police delivered a birthday card on Sunday from the Chief Constable Matt Jukes and wished him a happy birthday for Wednesday. He has had a fantastic write up on Wales Online and Twitter with many people from the communities sending birthday messages.
