Virgin have announced they are transferring the management of their email services to Junara, a specialist and dedicated email provider owned by Atmail. This transition affects the following email addresses:

  • ntlworld.com
  • blueyonder.co.uk
  • virgin.net
  • virginmedia.com

People who want to continue using their existing Virgin Media email address will need to move their service to Junara. People who do not want to move to Junara will have the option to download their emails and documents and move to another provider of their choice, including free email services, or simply close their email account if they wish.

Customers will get an official notification email from Virgin Media and will have a 45-day window to decide what they want to move to Junara, switch to a different provider (like Gmail or Outlook) or if they simply want to close the Account.  Find out more details about the changes and key deadlines on the Virgin Media site here.

Changing your email on Neighbourhood Alert

VisaV, the company who manage the Neighbourhood Alert platform, have provided advice to Neighbourhood Watch members who use Virgin accounts. There is also guidance to changing personal details on the platform here and contact details for their support here.

If you decide to update your email address, you should receive a verification email to your new email address, from alert@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk. You will need to access the link in the email to verify your new email address, after you've done that you can receive Alert messages to it.

Scams and Phishing

Scams and phishing attempts are a real concern, especially when people get messages about account changes. Virgin have said they will not include clickable sign-up links in any emails about this change. Instead, Virgin will direct customers to the official Virgin Media website where they can access the relevant information.

Information from Virgin advises customers to be cautious of any unexpected messages asking for personal details, passwords or payment information, and should only follow instructions provided through official Virgin Media communications.
