- Roy Marks Chair Darlington Darlington, a significant town in County Durham, has a population of approximately 105,000 but is growing quickly with many new housing developments ongoing. There are a number of separate Neighbourhood Watch groups within the town that service their local area or even a single street. The Darlington Neighbourhood Watch Association was reorganised late last year with the objective of uniting these separate units into one Association so that our combined efforts in advancing our objectives of making our town a safer place to live and work and more free from petty crime can be realised. - Phil Sullivan - The Neighbourhood Watch Association in Gloucestershire covers a county of approx. 1024 square miles (2653 sq km) and a population of around 600,000 residents. We have over 1800 schemes operated by 1900 Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators covering 50000+ households. The overarching aim of our association is to maintain the existing Neighbourhood Watch network and develop it, particularly in harder to reach communities and in areas where the need for community resilience is greatest. Our association also supports the promotional work of the 4 District Associations currently active across the county. We work very closely with the Police and our Crime Commissioners Office who provide a great deal of support. Partnerships are also strong with the local CSP’s, CrimeStoppers and other agencies. We also aim to attract association membership from areas of the county not currently represented on our committee from local councils, policing teams and community groups. Carole Atkinson MBE LBRuT , the only London Borough which straddles the Thames has a population of around 197,000. LBRuT NHWatch has a focus group of seven acting as an Executive. The association runs knowledge nights around the borough for NHWatch coordinators, members and residents which comprise talks on crime and safety and an opportunity to ask questions. Presentations from Trading Standards, Banks, health organisations, council and police provide advice on a variety of topics such as: safeguarding, fly tipping, burglary, personal safety for young people and car crime. In addition Scam Events are run from time to time with input from those organisations. Stan Jones Launched in 2008, the Association provides cover across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire which collectively contain 12 Local Police Areas (LPAs). TVNHWA mirrors this structure and has Associations in most LPAs, such as Wycombe District with over 1,000 coordinators. Along with our 7,000+ coordinators, they work closely with their main partner, Thames Valley Police, together with a wide variety of other organisations, to reduce crime and strengthen the movement in all areas of their three counties, both urban and rural. Johanna Kaschke In Tower Hamlets we are working to establish a formal Neighbourhood Watch Association and encourage all those interested in maintaining a watch group to register with Ourwatch. We have a Neighbourhood Watch sub-Committee aligned with the Tower Hamlets Safer Neighbourhoods Board. Our local police force use OWL for watch communications but the coordinators are not yet able to use the platform. Until they do, we use both platforms, OWL and Ourwatch to allow all our watches a freedom of choice. Johanna Kaschke is the Multi-scheme administrator for Ourwatch. We also use the Microsoft Teams platform to communicate with all who are not able to attend meetings to allow them take part.
