Our Winner: Jan Forbes

Jan’s nomination: I am nominating Jan Forbes for the Special Recognition Award in honour of her outstanding dedication, tireless commitment, and inspirational leadership as the Neighbourhood Watch Association Lead (for Wandsworth).

Jan consistently goes above and beyond the expectations of her role. She leads by example - not just coordinating, but actively supporting local groups, encouraging engagement, and always being ready to assist those who need guidance. Her professionalism, warmth, and approachability have helped grow a stronger, more connected, and more resilient community.

Jan is not only a strategic thinker but also someone who genuinely listens. She promotes innovative ideas while remaining rooted in the values of trust, cooperation, and public safety. Under her guidance, many local coordinators have flourished, and initiatives that once struggled have found new life. Her regular communications are timely, thoughtful, and motivational, helping everyone feel included and valued.

Whether it’s responding to queries late into the evening, mentoring new coordinators, or pushing forward new projects, Jan’s energy never falters. Her ability to bring people together across neighbourhoods, backgrounds, and agencies has significantly strengthened the local partnership between residents, the police, and the Council.

She is the glue that holds so many aspects of our network together, yet she never seeks the spotlight. It is for this reason her selfless dedication and sustained impact that I believe Jan truly deserves this Special Recognition Award.
