Scheme information

I have run Westleton NHW for 4 years and was asked by the Village Council to start it. We have 5 areas in the village each with a local street co-ordinator and maintain a presence on the village website and circulate newsletter and crime prevention advice on it. I also post weekly NHW newsletters at the village ship and hall and by email tio 15 interseted people and to the village shop and two pubs. On the occasion that a crime is common knowledge the complainant is visited and any support that is needed is given. Vacant empty houses are regularly checked and any crime intelligence is passed to 101. I also circulate Trading Standards Newsletters weekly.

Victor Stephens
I am a former Warrant Officer that served n the Royal MiIitary Police for 22 years during which I was also attached to the CID in Northern Ireland for 2 years. I have one police commendation from Beds Police. I have had formal training in Scene of Crime Examination and also attended a various other police training courses. On leaving the army I worked for 5 years as a Fraud Investigator on Government Fraudulent Trading Matters and for the next 14 years ran a commercial fraud investigation agency in Essex. I set up Westleton NHW at the request of the Village Council and despite lots of opposition have managed to slowly gain some interest and support. WE recently help the police arrest a team of car thieves that stole a landrover by getting early descriptions of suspected leaving a pub. If the DPA was not so unhelpful we could perhaps do more.
