Stockerston Crescent NHW

Scheme information

The Neighbourhood Watch scheme is a partnership where local residents come together to make their communities safer. It involves the Police, local authorities and, above all, individuals and families who want to make our neighbourhood as safe as possible, and a great place to live. It aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit.

Despite Uppingham being a quite and safe environment, over the years we have seen outbreaks of anger, heard loud music playing, seen some drug abuse and encountered our fair share of burglaries. By becoming a CLOSER COMMUNITY we can become more aware of one another’s homes whilst neighbours are at work, or away on holiday, and reduce the risk of any unwanted circumstances within our oasis of peace, the Crescent. It's also easier to ask for help and increases our sense of wellbeing when we know our neighbours on a personal level. Paul Becque.
