Lincolnshire NHW Representative gets Citizen of the Year Award

Lincolnshire Neighbourhood Watch representative Dennis Browne has been honoured by a Citizen of the Year award at the Lincolnshire Police Annual Recognition Awards.

Dennis has been a volunteer for Lincolnshire Police for ten years, and prior to that he volunteered for seven years with West Midlands Police.

When Dennis was younger his ambition was to be a police officer. His eagerness to assist in the fight against crime led him to join Neighbourhood Watch and he was the Chairman of Uttoxeter Neighbourhood Watch between 1998 and 2005.

In 2005 he moved to Lincolnshire and continued his volunteering work with Lincolnshire Police.

Dennis has an unbelievable amount of energy and volunteers in a number of roles to support the Gainsborough Neighbourhood Policing Team. For example:

  • For several years he has been the Chairman of Lincolnshire Neighbourhood Watch.
  • He can be found on the front desk at Saxilby police station, advising and assisting members of the public who visit or phone the station.
  • He attends police surgeries and events with the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, offering crime prevention advice.
  • He is Treasurer of the Gainsborough Crime Prevention Panel, a group set up to support and assist the local police in Gainsborough.
  • He plays a key role in organising the display for Lincolnshire Police at the annual Lincolnshire Show.
  • As if that isn't enough, Dennis is also a member of the committee pushing forward a project to obtain funding to install a multi-use games area in the Uphills locality of Gainsborough.

Dennis has given years of dedication to volunteering in the police
