Be Proud Of Your Area

Describe your best practice
We are working with young people from secondary schools with a project called BE PROUD OF YOUR AREA. The idea is to engage with young people to take ownership of a project that they think of in their area. It can be as small as litter picking. But the theme is TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE IN THEIR AREA. This is so to amplify how young people do good work in their community. The young people need to complete a project outlining the reasoning behind their choices and the challenges they faced.

What did you do and why?
Contacted all Secondary Schools in Borough. Invited them to set a meeting to discuss how the scheme would work.

Then went into the schools to do a workshop with the young people.

Duration of the project
6 weeks

Young people were very receptive and imaginative when starting their projects.

Communities saw a difference.

How did you overcome any challenges?

Being positive rather than negative about challenges as there is always a way forward.
