We started the scheme in January 2006 in an attempt to assist local residents, that were troubled by bad neighbours, who lived in the main in private landlord properties. Noise, fighting, cannabis growing, drunken parties, also sales of drugs from these houses were the problems that were occurring. Currently we have are having problems, with 140 empty properties owned by Accent Housing, 85 of which have now been sold to more private landlords, only two of which are being renovated at this time. These empty properties are like a magnet to the youths, who use them for drug sales and use, also stealing copper piping and other valuable items.
