Fedden Village and Black Nore Point

Scheme information

Fedden Village is a gated community opening onto Nore Road in Portishead. It is comprised of 92 privately owned flats, 16 houses, a caretakers cottage, St Nicholas Church and Black Nore Lighthouse. ==== Originally the property was the grounds of the National Nautical School that was founded by Henry Fedden in 1906 and later developed into individual properties as Fedden Village. There are several management companies and several parcels of land within the Village. The new residents maintain a close sense of a village community and take an active part in the watch scheme.

William Shier
I have lived at Fedden Village in the old National Nautical School Building for over 21 years. Initially I organised the residents to purchase their own freehold and helped them take over the management companies so that the property could be owned and operated by the residents. ==== When the Lighthouse was slated for demolition I organised a Community Interest Company so that the wider community could take ownership and preserve the Lighthouse.
