Scheme information

Barton is a hamlet in Barton Road with two working farms, one dairy/arable the other arable/beef cattle. Most properties are detached and four keep horses and other livestock. Within the watch is Barton Camp owned by Bristol Children's help Society. Some houses have large grounds and are relatively isolated. Barton road links Webbington/Loxton and Winscombe/Banwell . Although relatively crime free, there has been one house break- in in the last 12 months and prior to that thefts from sheds and gardens. The scheme was started in order keep residents informed of current crime trends and local incidents and to encourage vigilance in identifying potential criminal attempts, in particular thefts of farm and garden equipment. It also serves as vehicle to disseminate crime prevention methods i.e. 'smart water' marking of equipment.
