Watch scheme needs helpers

20 February 2012

Community-minded residents are being invited to join an award-winning Neighbourhood Watch scheme.

Biddulph Pro-Active Neighbourhood Watch currently has 10 volunteers who back up the town's police community support officers (PCSOs) and neighbourhood officers.

They give support at community events and help with leaflet drops.

PCSO Peter Johnson said: "The Pro-Active Team continues to be very active and would now like to recruit additional members.

"Anyone who would like to join must be enthusiastic, reasonably fit, be prepared to undergo a CRB check and be a good communicator."

"All team members, after vetting, are issued with the appropriate high visibility equipment, personal ID card and details of the scheme protocol."

"The main criteria is to be non-confrontational at all times and to be the eyes and ears of the police and Neighbourhood Watch."

Anyone interested should call PCSO Johnson on 101.
