New Street Watch team on patrol
2 February 2012
Volunteers from the latest Street Watch scheme to be set up in Salisbury have taken to the streets for their first patrol.
Police Community Support Officer Lydia Waterman, who has been instrumental in setting up the scheme, accompanied the three volunteers, Jason Stephens, Michael Patrickson and Annie Winter, along with Bruno the chocolate Labrador on a walk around Lower Bemerton, Queen Alexandra Road and Devizes Road.
Street Watch is a scheme involving members of the public who volunteer to conduct high visibility patrols in their communities for a minimum of two hours a month.
They then report back any suspicious activity they see, any damage, litter, graffiti or any concerns they may have to police Mr Stephens said: “I am intrigued by Street Watch and would like to see it work. It makes sense to be aware of things that are happening so that we can make others aware of what’s going on in our community.”
