National Personal Safety Day 2011 - Order your campaign material now!

11 July 2011

Neighbourhood and Home Watch members are invited to join the National Personal Safety Day 2011 (10th October) and the ‘ON THE HOMEFRONT’ campaign, hosted by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

The aim of the annual National Personal Safety Day is to get as many people as possible throughout the UK thinking about their personal safety and giving them simple advice on how they can to reduce the risks of becoming a victim of violence and aggression. With your help, we can reach even greater numbers of people than ever before.

The aim of this year’s ON THE HOMEFRONT campaign is to give people some useful tips on how to improve their personal safety in and around the home.

Campaign Events

Support of National Personal Safety Day (NPSD) is extremely flexible. As organisers, Suzy Lamplugh Trust supplies the tools and support but leaves the organisation of individual events and distribution to the local experts.

Organisations wishing to support the ON THE HOMEFRONT campaign can use the campaign resources to support their own local events; organised by themselves to suit themselves and their own community or organization.

Suggestions include:

Safety stand/surgeries in town centres/at transport hubs

Handing out leaflets to pedestrians

Posters at libraries/bus stops/community centres/shopping centres

Talks or presentations in schools/community centres/for the elderly

Interviews in/on local media

Leaflets in local shops

On the intranet/workshops in workplaces

If you do decide to organise events/promotional activities in support of the campaign, we’d love to hear about them. Please send us information about your plans when they’re finalised, and we will feature them on the Our Watch website (information can be sent to enquiries@ourwatch.org.uk). Information can also be sent to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to feature on the ‘What’s Happening Around the Country’ section on the NPSD 2011 webpages (information can be sent to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust by emailing press@suzylamplugh.org).

Campaign Resources

Please click here to view the campaign poster and click here to view the campaign leaflet. Materials are available to order in two formats:

a) You can email the number of hard copies you require to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust (press@suzylamplugh.org) (with delivery address) and these will be couriered to you in September.

NB. Please order in multiples of 500 for leaflets and 25 for posters, available to order on a first come first serve basis.

b) If you would like to have your own logo added to the posters and/or leaflets, please forward the appropriate logo to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust (press@suzylamplugh.org) and they add items to the pdfs and forward the amended pdfs to you. You will then be free to print as many as you require from this yourselves.

NB. If you decide on this option, the Suzy Lamplugh Trust would be grateful if you could let them know the final numbers printed and given out.

c) If you would like a PowerPoint presentation of the ON THE HOMEFRONT campaign tips, please email the Suzy Lamplugh Trust (press@suzylamplugh.org) to order.

Media

Suzy Lamplugh Trust will be responsible for the generic media promotion of National Personal Safety Day and the ON THE HOMEFRONT campaign. However, due to logistics and your greater knowledge of/relationships with your own local media, we feel any local promotions would do better coming from yourselves.
