Car theft victim appeals for return of sentimental items

Added: 22/02/2012

A victim of car crime is making a desperate appeal for information about the stolen vehicle as it contained sentimental items given to her from relatives who have died.

The car, a black Peugeot 206, was stolen from the Aztec hotel in Bristol overnight between Thursday 26 and Friday 27 January, 2012. The car was taken using keys stolen from inside the hotel so the vehicle may be parked somewhere without any visible damage.

The registration of the vehicle is KM56 NVE.

The car belongs to Susan Merry who was visiting Bristol and lives in Surrey. Speaking about the theft, Susan said: "The car contained items given to me by my mum and sister who have both died in the past couple of years. I always took them with me to feel they were close and now they have been taken I feel devastated. My car is also my lifeline to visit family who live hundreds of miles away and I don't know what I'll do now. If anyone knows what has happened to my car please just call the police."

The burglary has been reported to police but so far the car has not been located. Investigating the theft, DC Mark Gilbert said: "This vehicle has not been seen since it was stolen and it is possible it has been parked in Bristol somewhere. I would like the public to help us find the vehicle so it can be returned to the victim. Please look out for the vehicle in your street, in car parks you visit and as you travel around the city. The investigation continues and it is not too late to come forward if you know who is responsible for the theft."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Alternatively, phone the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. They never ask your name or trace your call.
